Getting in Taipei

Took a morning flight from Singapore via Jetstar. Checking in was a breeze as we had already done a web check in few hours earlier on!

Journey from SIN to TPE took around 4.5 hours. Thank god for music and movies

Jetstar does not provide inflight entertainment or food and drinks, so standby your own devices, drinks can be purchased at sgd 4 and a standard meal eg. chicken rice can be purchased at sgd 12.

Our flight including 20kg baggage check in, cost us sgd 260 for a return flight.

Arrived at Terminal 1 Tao Yuan International Airport and we proceed to the arrival gate, queue was short and baggage claim was very quick as well!

Bought our unlimited data sim card with Taiwan Da ge da for NT 300, 5 days usage.

The telecoms are on the right side after coming out from the baggage claim area. After getting our SIM card, take the travelator down to the Kuo kwang bus terminal.

Once you come down from the travelator you will spot this Hi-Life mini mart. We grab some drinks and onigri for our 1 hour journey on kuo kwang

Now we will have to get our MRT card aka easy card, from the control station.

Inside the taipei main station, you will see directions to HSR, TRA, MRT. Walk towards to MRT and look for Yong Ning line as our hotel is at Xi Men Ding, Xi men station!

The MRT easy card has a $100 refundable deposit, and we deposited around NT 500 inside. It can be used for bus rides and cable car rides too!

There will be some difficulty pushing our luggage around as there are many people and the lifts are not very prominent. We prefer to just carry our luggage down the escalator and stairs. :O

Here’s the map for your reference. Taken from Taipei Mrt website.

Next post will be on City Inn Hotel @ Xi Men Ding.
